The Siliguri region’s educational hub has been in the areas of Dooars and Terrai. In total, there are about 80 institutes and colleges which have affiliation to this university and there are about 36,000 students enrolled for graduate courses and 1,500 students for post graduate studies, in each academic year. The campus is vast for a long distance and it is claimed to be the second biggest in India. Dense vegetation, with different flowers in different seasons and lakes in the campus further add charm to the surrounding in which the different departments and buildings are located.

The North Bengal Medical College is the only college for medical sciences in the region, situated in Sushrutnagar and the 3rd Mahananda Bridge connects the region to the main city area. students come to study in this medical college from the state of West Bengal and the nearby areas for studying after they have passed the entrance exam of West Bengal for medicine and engineering. A newly established engineering college in Sukna is the Siliguri Institute of Technology, which is situated only a little distance away from the city centre and has quickly become a favored destination for campus recruitment of engineers, by a number of corporate houses in the state.
